The Vampire Diaries returns to The CW in October for its seventh season!

What Will Cause 'Disaster & Amazingness' During 'Vampire Diaries' Season 7?

San Diego Comic-Con recently took place and of course the cast of TVD was there to dish a bit on the upcoming season, which will be quite different with the loss of Elena (Nina Dobrev).

BuddyTV spoke with Paul Wesley, the portrayer of the dreamy and brooding Stefan Salvatore, who is looking forward to "a shift in dynamic" since Elena is gone for now anyway.

Wesley is all for the major change since he thinks the series "needs a fresh spin."

With the loss of Elena, the focus is going to be mainly on Stefan's relationship with his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and their mother Lily (Annie Wersching) along with some possible romance with Caroline (Candice Accola) along the way.

Lily has taken over with her other family, the heretics, which Stefan won't take well to.

"I don't think he's going to [get along with them]," Wesley shared, adding, "He doesn't get along with them. Nobody does. They're sort of like the baddies of season 7."

Lily is apparently going to do her best to drive the Salvatore brothers apart.

"You know how moms can get. They have their favorite son. You know Stefan's the momma's boy so I think she's going to get in between them," Wesley admitted.

"Stefan's going to be prone to forgiveness and naiveté, as opposed to Damon, who's cynical and suspicious and wary," Wesley revealed about the dynamic between his character, Lily and Damon.

The series returns to The CW in the fall for season 7.
