The ABC hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy will return this fall with a seriously determined Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson).

Will Jo & Alex's Relationship On 'Grey's Anatomy' Last Through Upcoming Season?

Bailey's latest ambition is to earn the title of Chief of Surgery at the hospital so her upcoming arc will focus on her determination to make that happen.

Wilson spoke with Zap2it recently all about her character's future on the twelfth season.

Could Katherine Heigl Return To 'Grey's Anatomy' For Season 12?

"'I want to be chief. That's what I want. What do I have to do to make that happen?'" Wilson explained of Bailey's thought process moving forward with this upcoming season.

"You're going to see some classic Bailey stuff, some classic Bailey behavior," Wilson shared.

Bailey was known in the beginnings of the medical drama series as always coming through and making things happen as well as being pretty touch on her interns, but in recent episodes of the series Bailey has gone through marital ups and downs amongst other obstacles that have easily agitated her self-confidence.

That's all about to change since she has this dream of earning the title of Chief of Surgery now.

"[You'll see] some self-confidence that you haven't seen in a while from her coming out. This is a really important step for her, just as important as getting on the board," Wilson said, adding, "I think being the chief is kind of the pinnacle of her career."

Grey's Anatomy will premiere its twelfth season on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET.
