Lindsay Lohan's life continues to spiral out of control.

Amid her legal issues stemming from lying to police about a car accident this summer and her subsequent arrest for punching a woman in a New York City night club, the troubled actress is also in hot water with the IRS.

Lohan still owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011, and since she hasn't paid up, the IRS has taken matters into its own hands, according to a report from TMZ.

"Uncle Sam has filed tax liens against Lindsay for the years 2009 and 2010 - claiming she owes $233,904 in unpaid federal taxes," TMZ reported.

And Lohan has no idea how she will find the money to pay what she owes. The actress, 26, is desperately trying to figure out any possible solution to get herself out of the hole, according to a report from The Huffington Post.

"Her finances are in a mess," a source said. "She lives very large, staying at the best hotels and traveling first class. All the money she earns she spends, and then when it comes to taxes, she has nothing left. Right now, she is desperate to find a paying gig to just get this burden off her back."

Though Lohan got help from a famous friend in managing her finances, it was just a drop in the bucket.

"Charlie Sheen generously paid Lindsay $100,000 to help alleviate Lindsay's 2009 tax problem - but we're told Charlie's check barely scratched the surface ... because Lindsay also owes money for 2011," according to TMZ.

The tax problem is only the latest for Lohan, who sources said has taken a downward spiral in the last few weeks by returning to using drugs and drinking as much as two entire liters of vodka per day.

"According to sources, Lindsay's become so stressed by her dire financial situation and the impending probation violation — stemming from her PCH crash this summer — that she's turned to alcohol for relief," TMZ reported. "We're told Lindsay - who's struggled with substance abuse in the past and even has a DUI conviction under her belt - would often begin drinking first thing in the morning, and continue drinking throughout the day."
