Michelle Knight Sends Heartfelt Message For Fourth Of July

Knight became a worldwide hero when she escaped from her captivity two years ago. She was trapped in a house with two other women (Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus) when their captivator Ariel Castro abused them. The girls eventually found their freedom and Castro was taken to prison only to commit suicide there.

In an interview with FOX 8, Berry and DeJesus opened up on how they felt when they found out about Castro's suicide.

"I think he was a coward," DeJesus said. "He took the easy way out."

"I just couldn't believe it," Berry said. "Like, he was in there not even a month and he couldn't deal with what he put us through for ten years."

This story gripped the nation and became one of the biggest headlines of the generation. There was even a Lifetime movie about it called Cleveland Abduction starring Orange is the New Black star Taryn Manning as Knight.
