Kristin Cavallari, who rose to fame on MTV's early aughts reality shows including "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills," dished about the veracity of those series on Monday.

Cavallari, who is 25 years old, appeared on "Watch What Happens Live," the talk show hosted by Andy Cohen, who is the vice president of development at Bravo. During the chat, Cohen asked Cavallari to open up about how real or staged the situations and characters were on the shows that made her famous.

Questions of truthfulness have dogged the series ever since "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" first premiered in 2004. Lauren Conrad was the central character in "Laguna Beach" during its first season before Cavallari took over the spotlight in season two.

Conrad then went on to star in her own spin off show, "The Hills," which chronicled her work in the fashion industry in Los Angeles. When Conrad decided to leave that show, Cavallari again took over and became a central figure in the series.

When Cohen asked Cavallari about just how real "The Hills" was, she admitted it was "pretty fake" and said that based on suggestions from the producers, members of the cast often had "fake relationships" and "fake fights."

But that doesn't mean Cavallari didn't enjoy her time on the show.

"But it was fun, because [when] you're acting, it was more fun for me," she said.

Cohen also questioned Cavallari about her feud with Lauren Conrad, which began way back in the first season of "Laguna Beach." When he asked if that was fake, Cavallari answered with a resolute "no," but clarified that her emotions may have been influenced.

"I feel like [producers] put things in our heads. I mean, we were 17 and 18. They made it a lot worse than it was," she said.
