The former One Direction member appears to want to start fresh in all aspects of his life. He recently inked a solo record deal so he can show off the "real me." Now he is a single man too.

Edwards and Malik had been engaged since August 2013 and they have dealt with a lot of cheating scandals, public scrutiny and just the typical things that come with being in a romantic relationship.

Since the announcement of their split, Malik has been tweeting pretty cryptically. On Tuesday he tweeted a photo of piano keys with a lotus flower made of paper sitting on top of them.

According to research by a student named Liz Larson from North Dakota State University the lotus flower signifies rebirth, which is definitely what Malik is keen on. The former 1D singer even got a tattoo of a lotus flower. Tattoos of these flowers are said to represent "people who've had tough times in their life and are finally coming out of it."

Anyway, it is clear Malik seems to have no problem moving forward with his life and despite claims that Edwards is struggling greatly, it looks like she's actually handling the split like any other person would. She has taken the next step by removing all images of her former fiancé from her Instagram. It's a common practice to delete a former significant other from all of your social media accounts in this day and age. Many seem to think Edwards is totally distraught, but would she really keep any reminders of time spent with Malik's family then? An incident that occurred late last year with one of his sister's is still posted on her Instagram.

Edwards is obviously going through the motions of the split as any other person would that recently had their engagement called off.
