Reports called into question Anne Hathaway's Givenchy gown, wore for the London premiere of "Les Miserables" on Wednesday, and whether the actress chose the right outfit in the eyes of the public.

The pearl-beaded white floor-lengthed number had long, off the shoulder sleeves, and a low scooped back. The actress, still with her pixie cut left over from her movie role, added red lipstick to the look and minimal jewelry such as no earrings. But was the 30-year-old successful in terms of her fashion choice?

People magazine noted, beside a photo of Hathaway in the Givenchy gown, "with the good comes the bad."

"The color is gorgeous and the semi-open back is romantic," the publication said in its report. "[But] the all-over pearl beading is just overwhelming, the sleeves remind us of bat wings (maybe she was paying homage to her 'Dark Knight' role?) and the open-shoulder halter neckline just does not work with everything else going on."

Us Weekly took to praising the newleywed for her "dramatic appearance" on Wednesday and said the Givenchy creation made Hathaway look simply "sexy."

In the January 2013 issue of Glamour, the actress, who also graced the publication's cover in black short and a white T-shirt, said that her weight and body image is areas that she can stop obsessing over.

"I still feel the stress over 'Am I thin enough? Am I too thin? Is my body the right shape?'" she said. "There's an obsessive quality to it that I thought I would've grown out of by now. It's an ongoing source of shame for me."

Hathaway lost 25 pounds for the film version of "Les Miserables" in which she plays Fantine - a dying young mother abandoned by her lover and stricken with disease. The film will be in theaters starting Dec. 25 and also stars Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne, among other acclaimed actors.
