Since its release in 2004, "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" has become a cult classic among comedy fans across the nation.

The film made actors like Will Ferrell and Steve Carell into bigger stars than they already were, and now a sequel is in the works that could feature yet another superstar - "Saturday Night Love" alum, Kristen Wiig.

Wiig is currently in talks to join "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," which is currently in development and expected to go into production soon. According to a report from The Wrap, Wiig is eyeing the role of a love interest for Carell's character Brick Tamland.

"Wiig would play opposite Steve Carell, as a love interest in the sequel. The script is still being written, and no cast beyond the principals has been set," The Wrap reported.

The actress, 39, left "Saturday Night Live" last season after she scored a smash hit with the female comedy "Bridesmaids." Since then, she has worked on several films that are slated for release soon, including "Imogene," "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and "Hateship Friendship."

But while Wiig has not yet confirmed her deal to appear in the "Anchorman" sequel, the film's star Will Ferrell has been busy preparing himself physically to yet again become Ron Burgundy.

Ferrell was spotted in Florida this week sporting quite the unusual facial hair - an enormous, bushy mustache tinged with hints of grey.

Ferrell gave fans a small taste of what they might expect in the upcoming sequel in a recent interview.

"We are going to focus on and comment on the transition from what was kind of traditional news to where entertainment forces started melding in, and Ron's going to be one of the catalysts of that," Ferrell said.

The actor and comedian told ABC News that his Ron Burgundy mustache attracts a great deal of attention on the street, but he's always surprised by the kind of questions people ask about it.

"I'm surprised by how many people have walked up to me and asked, 'Is that mustache real?' Of course. I say, 'Yes, why would I be wearing a fake mustache?' I mean, why would I be walking around wearing a fake mustache?" he said.
