Doctor Who's Toby Whithouse knows nothing of Steven Moffat's alleged departure.

Moffat, who has helmed Who for the last five seasons, has surpassed the series' last showrunner's tenure by one year and that milestone has kick started the BBC rumor mill. If Moffat is about to leave the TARDIS behind, Whithouse does not believe he is in contention for the role.

"No-one at the BBC has ever had this conversation with me!" the writer told TLE Online. "No-one has asked me, no-one has approached me about if Steven leaves, when Steven leaves. These are conversations that happen purely among fans, not on any official level."

This isn't the first time such a rumor has floated around the fandom. Fans have banned about the possibility of everyone from Whithouse ("A Town Called Mercy," "The God Complex") to Mark Gatiss ("Robot of Sherwood," "The Crimson Horror") to Anthony Horowitz (who isn't even associated with the series).

Will any of these names ever gain the Doctor Who showrunner title? Possibly, though just not yet.
