Michael Strahan has been in New York City for several months since taking over for Regis Philbin and joining Kelly Ripa on daytime television.

The former defensive end for the New York Giants became an on-air analyst for "Fox NFL Sunday" before scoring his current full-time gig as host of "Live! With Kelly And Michael."

And now that he's spending so much time working in New York City, he's getting to know the area and taking in the sights, and he's making it a family affair.

Strahan took his eight year old twins Isabella and Sophia all the way up to the 103rd floor of the Empire State Building on Thursday to take in the breathtaking views of New York City. The girls looked cute as can be in matching pink coats as they posed for a photo with their father.

Strahan visited the Empire State Building to help illuminate the enormous tower with green lights in honor of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Visiting one of New York's most iconic skyscrapers was part of a city-wide tour Strahan and his daughters took, which was aired on Friday's episode of "Live!"

"The former New York Giant took his girls on holiday expeditions that included visiting Santa Claus at Macy's, watching the skaters at Bryant Park, shopping at the famed FAO Schwarz toy store, and hitting up the American Girl store. That night the threesome took in 'The Lion King' on Broadway," Yahoo! News reported.

Strahan took another step toward becoming an official New Yorker on Wednesday night when he made his Broadway debut as a grouchy Santa Claus in the hit show "Elf." When he exited the theater after the show, he was shocked to find a horde of fans waiting to greet him.

"I didn't expect that," he said. "I've gone from signing footballs to Playbills."
