He made an appearance on ESPN’s His & Hers with Jemele Hill and Michael Smith to set the record straight.

“I don’t agree with Rihanna. Matt Barnes is an honest, standup guy…He really knows her. He knows her. He knows her,” he repeated multiple times. “He’s not lying about that. Why would he lie about that? He’s a grown man. Why would he lie about that? We know Rihanna is Rihanna, why would you lie about that?”
He still wasn’t buying Rihanna’s claim that she never met Barnes after Hill suggested Rihanna might have just wanted to keep it private.
“She has her reasons…But you have a relationship where you guys know each other. Don’t bash him. I wouldn't do that to somebody I text and that I know. Kudos to Matt.”

His comment comes just days after TMZ caught up with Barnes amid rumors that he was sparking up a relationship with Rihanna. Barnes said that while they are still in the friendship stage, it’s definitely pass the “crush” phase and made it clear that they are seeing where things go in the future. But Rihanna hopped on Instagram and made it seem like they don’t know each other at all in a hashtag filled diss just for him.
