Disney once again appears to be breaking ground with a new princess to add to its long storied mix, and fans are already applauding the choice.

During the D23 expo last week, Disney execs finally revealed a first look at Moana, a Polynesian princess whose first movie would be released on Nov. 23, 2016.

In the concept art for the film, Moana appears to be a pretty young princess who seems a bit sassy, as in one image she sports a red crop top, multi-patterned skirt, and stands with her feet apart, one hand on her hip, and with a bit of smirk on her face. Other characters introduced during the expo included demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson), Tui (Moana's father), Pua the pig, Hei Hei the rainbow-colored rooster and lava witch with ashen claws for a villain.

The story is expected to find Moana setting sail on a mission to find a mythical island in a region of the world called Oceania, when along the journey she encounter several other creatures.

Moana becomes the 14th official Disney Princess, following classic ones including Snow White , Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan, as well as more recent additions like Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Anna and Elsa.

Fans have been praising Moana's inclusion for a while, since news first broke of Moana's existence in the lineup, and positive reactions to her character have only increased with the release of the concept art.
