NCIS: Los Angeles' Marty Deeks will have a major decision to make when season 7 arrives this fall.

'NCIS: LA' Season 7: Callen Must Be Stopped At 'Any Cost', Rouge Mission Jeopardizes Friendships

The LAPD detective is under investigation, but neither Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) nor the audience has any idea why. Hetty (Linda Hunt) seems to believe it has to do with Deeks and Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) workplace romance, and viewers will find out the truth this fall.

"When the internal affairs investigation reaches its conclusion, and you find out what it's all about, it will be a catalyst for Deeks making decisions about his future," series creator Shane Brennan told TV Guide.

'NCIS: LA' Season 7 Spoilers: 150th Episode Title Revealed, When Will It Air?

While the showrunner's statement sounds nerve-wrackingly ominous, there is always a chance the IA debacle will bring about a positive change. Perhaps Deeks' time with the LAPD is at an end. Hetty previously offered him a permanent place with NCIS, and it may be time for the cop to take on the title of special agent.

Or, everything could go horribly, horribly wrong.

NCIS: LA will return on Sept. 21 with "Active Measures." Callen (Chris O'Donnell) will go rouge, and the team will be tasked with bringing him in at "any cost." Needless to say, the lead agent will push his friendships to the breaking point.

NCIS: LA airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
