Despite Angelina Jolie's claims that she is planning to retire from acting in the near future to focus on her family, the actress is in talks to star in a remake of her action thriller "Salt."

The original film was released in 2010 and went on to international box office success, pulling in $293.5 million around the world, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Hoping to recreate more of that success with a second installment, Columbia Pictures hired a screenwriter to begin work on a sequel.

Once the script was done, however, Jolie was not pleased with the final product, according to the report. So Columbia brought on a second writer to polish up the script in hopes of luring Jolie back into the "Salt" franchise.

The A-lister and fiancee of Brad Pitt said in an interview earlier this month that she is most likely planning to retire from acting as her children grow up and need more of her time. She told Britian's Channel 4 News that while she loves acting, her family will ultimately come first.

"I will do some films and I am so fortunate to have the job, it's a really lucky profession to be a part of and I enjoy it. But if it went away tomorrow I would be very happy to be home with the children," Jolie said. "I think I'm going to have to give up the acting as the kids hit the teenage years, anyway, too much to manage at home."

Jolie and her longtime partner Pitt have six children together. Three of them are adopted, including 11-year-old Maddox, 9-year-old Pax and 7-year-old Zahara. The remaining three children are all biological offspring of Jolie and Pitt, and they include 6-year-old Shiloh and 4-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
