Will Martha Rodgers Still Be In Castle's Life In Next Season of 'Castle'?

Alexis, the daughter of Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), will blossom into "a young woman" in season 8 of Castle. Castle's daughter will take inspiration from new security specialist Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye).

Terence Paul Winter, one of the new show runners for season 8, spoke with TVLine and revealed what's ahead for Alexis and how Hayley influences her.

"Hayley is going to help Alexis find herself," Winter said, adding that their relationship has "a different kind of energy" compared to her interning with Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones). "What we've shot with [Alexis and Hayley] together is magic, it really is."

Fellow new show runner Alexi Hawley previously commented on how the Alexis and Hayley relationship takes shape.

"We like the idea of [Hayley] as a mentor to Alexis in a way that Beckett [Stana Katic] has been, but because she's also Castle's wife, ultimately Hayley can play a little bit more of an older sister," Hawley said. "This season is really about growing Molly up. She's been playing the child for seven seasons and now she's 21 years old. She's a grown up. This year, she's going to be more sophisticated. That relationship with her father will change because she's not a little girl anymore."

Castle season 8 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
