Outlander is ready to give Brianna's storyline a shake up.

'Outlander' Season 2: Black Jack Is Back, Set PHOTOS Preview Duel With Jamie

The Starz series is ready to cast Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) daughter, but it appears Brianna's tale won't be quite the same as book readers remember. According to the series' latest casting call, Outlander's second season will not only be based on Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber, but it will also steal pieces from Drums of Autumn.

"Brianna has secretly followed her mother back in time to find the father she never met and the family she never knew," Starz announced.

Already 20 years old by time she enters the story, Brianna will be born and raised in post-war America by Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies). The native Bostonian has a "healthy dose of American strength," and it appears viewers will see that trait in spades as the young woman's story accelerates to book four in season 2.

The change should not come as a surprise, particularly since both Gabaldon and executive producer Ron Moore have repeatedly cautioned fans regarding sophomore's run propensity for deviating from the original story.

Are you excited to dive head first in to Brianna's journey, or would you rather the series stick to the course of the books? Sound off in the comments below!

Outlander will return to Starz in 2016.
