Will Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) finally take the plunge in season 9 of CBS's The Big Bang Theory?

Will Sheldon & Amy Ring Situation Be Addressed In The 'Big Bang Theory' Season Premiere?

Yes! They will! In fact, Leonard and Penny will get married in the season 9 premiere, according to a new TVLine report. The couple was last seen on the way to Las Vegas to get hitched, but things slightly unraveled when they argued over a kiss from Leonard's past.

The Big Bang Theory showrunner Steve Molaro spoke with the publication and confirmed they were getting married in the premiere. However, "that's really only the beginning of the story," he said. "As fun and as great as it is to see them get married, that's only part of it."

With almost a decade under its belt, Molaro felt it was necessary for the show to finally have Leonard and Penny tie the knot.

"We're nine years in and we want to keep things moving forward, as well as exciting and scary and fun," the showrunner explained. "And I think this a great way to do it. Penny has had commitment issues for years and years now, especially when it comes to Leonard, and even she feels, 'How much longer are we going to go back and forth on this? Let's just jump in and hope for the best.'"

Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) relationship will also be addressed in the season premiere. Amy told Sheldon via video chat that she wanted to take a break, but after they hung up, it was revealed that Sheldon had an engagement ring in his possession. What will become of this ring?

The Big Bang Theory season 9 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
