They had several potential suspects locked up in custody for the death of Silas Clay, but Nathan (Ryan Paevy) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) will finally be able to close the case and make a final arrest on General Hospital.

A New Suspect Emerges In Silas' Murder

After discovering some new evidence, the two previously arrested Ric (Rick Hearst) and threatened to charge him with the murder and throw him in jail alongside Nina (Michelle Stafford), Franco (Roger Howarth) and Ava (Maura West) -- but then let him go. However, they will reveal to Jordan (Vinessa Antoine) everything about their plot -- which required enlisting Ric's help in the case -- in order to bring down Silas' real killer.

"He's going to lead us right to Silas Clay's killer," Nathan says to Jordan in a preview clip for the Monday, Aug. 31 episode.

The Truth About Silas' Murder Threatens To Implode

What the guys have figured out is that Madeline (Donna Mills) was the one who plunged the knife into Silas' back and killed him -- and they are counting on Ric's close relationship with his wife's mother to bring her to justice.

Of course they are unaware that Ric's agreement to help has nothing to do with any sort of feeling for Nina -- but rather his own hopes that he can still get his hands on her money, but get Madeline out of the way as well-prompting her to figure out how to get a confession out of her.

"I had to do whatever it took to make sure we got the money," Madeline says to him in the clip.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
