The wrong Facebook page of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter was reported on Friday.

It was identified this morning that Ryan Lanza is the shooter responsible for the Newtown, CT elementary school shooting this morning.

Multiple news agencies reported that the Facebook page of Lanza was identified and pictures of the man were posted online.

However, the reports were incorrect as the Lanza on the social media site is not the same man responsible for the tragic slaying of around 27 victims.

A Ryan Lanza from New Jersey posted a message on his Facebook to try and clear his name writing: "Everyone shut the f--- up it wasn't me."

He continued to post online: "IT WASN'T ME I WAS AT WORK IT WASN'T ME."

The Huffington Post wrote a correction on their article on Lanza's social media page stating: "The original story in this entry misidentified a Facebook page as that of the shooter. We regret the error."

Multiple deaths have been reported involving students and staff but a total number has yet to be confirmed as police continue to investigate the scene. Around 27 people are dead in the second worst school shooting in the history of the United States that includes 18 children fatally shot, according to the Washington Post.

The real 24-year old Lanza killed himself after the incident and his body was found by police in one of the classrooms of the elementary school.

The gunman wore a bullet-proof vest and tactical gear when he arrived at the school, according to Reuters.

At least two handguns, a Sig Sauer and a Glock, were used by Lanza during the event, according to CNN reports. There was also an unconfirmed Bushmaster rifle found in the suspect's vehicle.

Federal authorizes confirmed on Friday that Lanza has no criminal record and is not on any national terrorist watch list.

The gunman's motive remains unknown, but Lanza's mother was a teacher at the school.
