Movie star Tom Hardy opened up on his iconic role as Mad Max in the recent action flick.

Did One Of Tom Hardy's Movies Have Serious Risks Involved?

On Monday, The Wall Street Journal shared a video with the actor who revealed his favorite thing about the character he portrayed in Mad Max: Fury Road. He mentioned how Max has faced a lot of struggle while going on a search.

"The best thing about Max is that he's not an essential cookie cutting hero. He's an anti-hero- a man who's got a tremendous amount of horror in his life and all he wants to do is go home," Hardy said. "But he doesn't have a home. He's searching for something."

The actor who played this iconic role in the first films was Mel Gibson. Hardy knew he would never be able to take on the role in the exact way Gibson did since he will always be known as Mad Max.

"There's no point in ever trying to pretend that I was going to replace Mel's Max," Hardy said. "Mel Gibson is Mad Max. That's that."

Hardy said he had lunch with Gibson where he didn't seem too enthusiastic over someone else taking over the part. As it turns out though, the classic Mad Max may have been impressed in some form.

"He wrote some nice emails to my agent and said it was the right thing to do and that he possibly met someone who was crazier than him," Hardy said about Gibson.
