Last season of ABC's medical drama Grey's Anatomy was quite sad with one of the most devastating character losses in TV history (we're looking at you Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd [Patrick Dempsey]), but there was also plenty of relationship woes and delights that will carry on in the upcoming season.

Alex & Jo Will Be Integral Parts Of 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12?

One relationship that will particularly heat up happens to be the one between newlyweds, Dr. Catherine Avery (Debbie Allen) and Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.).

These two doctors got hitched in the Season 11 finale, which was a rather sweet ending to a very tumultuous season overall.

A Lot Of Change Is Coming To 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12

Variety reported Tuesday straight from Allen that the romance between her character and her onscreen hubby will really heat up.

"We'll just say that we are giving new life to sexy over 50," she gushed, adding, "We have a very hot relationship. Richard has got her busy."

It sounds like this season of Grey's Anatomy will be less emotionally painful and much more lustful.

Plus, there will always be drama and Allen's character will have plenty to say about her son Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and his wife Dr. April Kepner's (Sarah Drew) rough relationship. Things didn't leave off well for them at the end of Season 11.

"When we left, my son, he was going through a little drama with his wife, and you know Catherine has a lot to say about that," Allen revealed about her character's son's relationship.

This season is definitely looking to focus on romance quite a bit with these new revelations.

Grey's Anatomy returns to ABC on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET for its Season 12 premiere.
