"The Artemis Fowl movie is finally getting going and will be directed by none other than Thor director Kenneth Branagh," Colfer told Artemis Fowl Confidential on Wednesday. "And just as exciting, it's going to be written by one of my favorite writers, Irish playwright Conor McPherson. So that is a real double whammy of Irish talent right there and it couldn't be in better hands. If this finally goes ahead, it will have been worth the wait."

Colfer, however, did caution fans not to place all their hope in this news. The movie has hit multiple snags across the years, and Colfer, while quite pleased with the news, is "cautiously trying not to get too excited."

Disney has yet to announce a possible time line for the film.
