Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough is already connecting with his new celebrity partner in a major way.

Hough has been assigned to work with Bindi Irwin this season. Irwin is the 17-year-old daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, and she is a wildlife conservationist just like her father.

While Bindi and Hough have just started rehearsals, the fan favorite pro is loving her energy already.

"I'm in this space right now where I'm super pumped on life right now. I feel connected. I feel great. And then she walks in my life. You don't understand what positive energy she is," Hough told People recently.

"I just got off a vacation on a lake, and I was thinking maybe it's because she's connected to nature and the animals or something," he continued. "And if you're that connected, you feel whole I guess. I don't know what it is. I love her. She's amazing. She's a breath of fresh air. We all need a little Bindi in our life. Seriously."

As Dancing With the Stars tends to do every season, Bindi and Hough's first dance will be related to the celebrity's career.

"We are gonna bust out with a kind of on-the-nose song the first week," Hough revealed.

Meanwhile, Bindi admitted to the magazine that she is more scared of dancing than any crocodile she's come across.

"This is going to be more terrifying than jumping on top of a crocodile," Bindi said. "Crocodiles, they are very special because they are modern-day dinosaurs. But I've kind of worked with them my whole life, whereas I've never danced before in my life."

Hough is perhaps the most popular pro on Dancing With the Stars and Bindi has an energetic spirit, so they have a good shot of going all the way to the end. It all depends on Bindi's commitment to exceeding and winning over the public.

Dancing With the Stars season 21 premieres Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
