Several members of the Salem community could find themselves in extreme danger now that a serial killer is on the loose in their midst on Days of Our Lives-but just who could be the person who is causing all of the mayhem?

So far, the killer has only struck once, killing Serena Mason (Melissa Archer)--but more victims are sure to soon follow, with Paige Larsen (True O'Brien) rumored to be the next target. The killer's identity isn't scheduled to be revealed until November, meaning many more lives could be ended in the process. With that in mind, here are five potential people who could be behind the mass killings to come:

Chad DiMera:

Chad (Billy Flynn) is the prime suspect in Serena's murder right now since he was the last one to see her alive-and the napkin with his blood on it was found at the crime scene, which does a good job of placing him there. Added to the fact that he got blackout drunk that night and can't remember where he was between leaving the pub and checking into the inn, it's hard for him to prove he isn't culpable for the crime-even though he isn't quite so known for committing murder.

Clyde Weston:

It'd be pretty anticlimactic to learn that Clyde Weston (James Read) --or one of his many flunkies--was responsible for Serena's murder and any others that may be coming down the pipeline. Not only did he play a role in EJ's death nearly a year ago, but he also was behind Sonny's stabbing a few months back. He recently murdered Kyle and threatened JJ (Casey Moss) that he would hurt Paige and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) if he ever learned JJ was working for the cops as well. And he would love nothing more to stick it to Chad-and was at the pub at the same time as Chad and Serena and saw them getting cozy...before stepping out to make a mysterious phone call. He seems like the most likely contender at this point.

Aiden Jennings

While it seems unlikely the lawyer himself (portrayed by Daniel Cosgrove) is committing murder-especially of people he has no real connection to or cause to kill-he recently emerged as a shady character with some mysterious person he owes money to-money he intends to get from Hope (Kristian Alfonso) by marrying her. Could his unknown partner be a killer? It's possible, though it feels more like these two are somehow wrapped up in the situation that involves Bo going missing.

Ben Weston

Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) has been exceptionally overprotective of Abigail (Kate Mansi) lately nd is stuck to her like glue during her pregnancy, ensuring she doesn't sneak off and see Chad without his knowledge. It seems highly unlikely he would have resorted to murder of any kind to make sure the other man Abigail loves is out of the picture good, but he's been known to exhibit a major change in temper with little provocation.

Someone We Haven't Met Yet

Hey, it's always possible. New actors are all scheduled to join the canvas in the coming months, so it could be that one will be introduced who will quickly be revealed as a killer as well.
