Season 7 of The Good Wife is going to go easy on Cary (Matt Czuchry) but some of the ridiculous situations he finds himself in will serve as comic relief on the show.

Alicia's New Look And Office For Season 7 Revealed

In an interview with TVLine, the CBS legal drama's executive producer and co-writer Robert King dished about Cary's character arc in the next chapter, revealing that while he has arrived in his career, he will have other funny problems to deal with.

"Throughout his six years on the show, he has always been the person struggling the most to maintain his career," King said. "Now he's in the most secure position ever. He's a partner at Chicago's third-largest firm. And he's only 34. He's the youngest person in the room almost by a decade or two, and that creates a very big strain for him because A) he's not used to not struggling and B) he finds himself drawn to the [younger] associates. He's caught between the people over him and beneath him. That creates a great, interesting comic strain for Matt Czuchry."

Alicia Might Not Partner Up With Louis Canning In Season 7?

This should be an interesting development, particularly as Cary needs to get over his romantic past with Kalinda and is probably still seeking closure on that front. But of what King suggests the dark days are behind him and he will be moving forward in that department as well.

Season 7 is set to premiere on CBS on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?', aired on CBS on May 10.
