Last week when the latest episode of the soap aired on Friday, it was revealed that Ian Ward (Ray Wise) is behind the Paragon Project and Gabriel/Adam (Justin Hartley) is helping see it through since he also wants revenge against Victor.

Many viewers were shocked about Ian's return since they thought he was in jail or dead, but that's not the case.

Wise explained that viewers would know exactly how Ian got out of jail soon.

"There is an explanation coming. You'll know exactly how it happened, and it's all perfectly laid out and legitimate," he said.

"He's the ultimate confidence man. He can do anything. And he wants revenge. He's been slapped or punched by pretty much everybody in Genoa City. He can't move on with his life because he still has scores to settle," Wise explained of Ian's return to Genoa City, adding, "He and Adam will really have the whole town in turmoil. It will be major...monumental! The viewers are going to be quite surprised by the scope of the havoc Ian and Adam will raise."

Ian will even make time for a certain female in town while causing havoc.

"There's also someone in town who fascinates him. Someone he has a liaison with. Someone of the female persuasion," Wise revealed.

The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
