Famed skateboarder Shaun White made a brave decision and decided to cut his signature long red hair for charity.

White, shocked fans when he released a YouTube video on Twitter which documented his haircutting process, titled "It's Only Hair." White, 26, cut his ponytail to donate to the non-profit organization Locks Of Love.

In the video, the Olympic gold medalist nervously admits that it was a decision he had "been thinking about" for a while riding a car on his way to the barber shop.

"Been thinking about this one for a while," said an obviously nervous White. "Ummm, but it's for a good cause, so I wanna do it. Somebody needs it more than I do," he added.

White, who is nicknamed the "Flying Tomato" for performing fearless snowboarding stunts, may have left his bravado at home. After he arrives in the barber shop he tells the barber, "I'm a little nervous; you gotta go easy on me."

White then ran his fingers through his long, curly hair for the last time. When the barber begins to cut his long locks, the daredevil immediately asked him to stop.

In the end, White seemed satisfied with his decision and the results. "I like it," said White, while looking in the mirror after the haircut was complete. "It's good."

White then looked in to the camera and announced to the charity, "I did it for you Locks Of Love!"

Locks of Love describes their company as an organization that "provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis." The company states that they "meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics."

White's many accomplishments includes two Olympic gold medals and 22 X Games medals in his career.

White made headlines in September when he was arrested for public intoxication and vandalism in Nashville. The snowboarder had a black eye in the mug shot taken after he entered police custody following his arrest at Nashville's Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. Police on the scene said White seemed "extremely intoxicated and smelled strongly of alcohol."
