A new report reveals that the next Game of Thrones book, The Winds of Winter, might hit stores in 2016.

The Daily Dot sourced this exciting bit of news from a Spanish fan website. The website revealed that the Spanish editor of A Song of Ice and Fire, strongly hinted that the next book will be out next year in a recent interview with El Mon RAC1.

Here's the important bit from the transcript:

"Radio Host:  The sixth book will be?
Cuervo:  It is expected next year.
Radio Host:  In English, but in Spanish when will it be?
Cuervo:  We have been promised the manuscript in advance of the release in English which we will translate, there won't be a big difference.
Radio Host:  But you are equally sure it will be next year?
Cuervo:  Well, let's see, confidant...but a meteor could fall."

Earlier this year, George R.R. Martin revealed that he would be skipping the San Diego Comic-Con, as he would be busy at work on The Winds of Winter, which he alternately, comically calls Son of Kong

Martin also addressed this on his blog, explaining why he might be absent from another important convention:

"I've just had to scratch Saratoga off my list of 2015 appearances. For no reason having to do with the con itself. I am sure it will be terrific. It's just a matter of time. I have too much to do. Too many things on my plate. Son of Kong foremost amongst them."

The writer expressly employs his wit and humor, in weighing the importance of these conventions and his commitment to the book as goes on to add:

"Should I complete and deliver Winds Of Winter before these cons roll round, I reserve the right to change my mind."
