After years of going back and forth between Mellie an Olivia Pope, President Fitz is finally ready to make a final move in the highly anticipated fifth season of ABC’s Scandal.

In the newest official trailer for the Shonda Rhimes drama, Fitz (Tony Goldwynn) and Olivia (Kerry Washington) live out their passions once again. But this time is much different than their romantic affairs of the past. Fitz doesn’t seem to care about throwing off a potential Presidency and getting divorced while still serving as the leader of the free world.

The narrator reveals, “America you’ve waited long enough..Thursday September 24th, the twisty, crazy, goodness you crave. Well it’s handled.”

But of course it’ll take a few secret winks at a dinner and mystery rendezvous before they actually come out as a couple. Still, one person knows that “Mr. President” is hiding something. And despite their years of a troubled marriage, Mellie (Bellamy Young) didn’t see the split coming when Fitz tells her he wants a divorce.

Viewers can’t help but ask the question as to what will happen with Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) now that Olivia is with Fitz for good. Apparently Jake is pretty upset about a few things and “goes on a journey that might destroy everything,” Shonda Rhimes revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

The TGIT lineup begins on September 24 with Grey’s Anatomy at 8/7c, Scandal at 9/8c and How To Get Away With Murder at 10/9c.
