Lady Gaga recently delved into the psychology of her character in FX's American Horror Story: Hotel.

'American Horror Story: Hotel' Premiere Synopsis Revealed

Gaga is making her major TV acting debut with American Horror Story's upcoming fifth season, which centers on a creepy hotel in Los Angeles. Gaga's character Elizabeth, a.k.a. The Countess, owns the hotel and fancies herself a socialite obsessed with art, fashion and people. She also just so happens to drink blood in order to maintain her youthful figure.

The pop superstar turned actress spoke with Entertainment Weekly in an interview posted Friday, revealing her take on The Countess.

Lily Rabe Teases 'Insane' New 'American Horror Story' Role

"The Countess is a very old soul," Gaga explained. "She's extremely strong. She's been through so much. It's kind of impossible for anything to penetrate her. This show in many ways is about her survival and there is an amazing journey that touches on the mythology of viruses and in what way these afflictions change our lives and bring us together and tear us apart."

The Countess even has her own set of bloodsucking children whom she adopted/kidnapped. Based on the preview trailer released Thursday it looks like they might be running around the hotel at all hours of the night, which is bound to be unsettling.

It is not yet known if Gaga will be the official lead of Hotel, though much of the marketing has revolved around her presence. She is only slated to appear in eight episodes of the 13, so we will see how involve she truly is in the season.

American Horror Story: Hotel premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
