Kattegat's boatwright made quick work of Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) closest confidant in season, and when season 4 begins, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) will have to pay for his crimes. It seems Floki's humiliating failure at the walls of Paris was not nearly punishment enough.

"It's a huge issue that has to be dealt with. You can speculate on how long Ragnar has known it was Floki. Is that why he set Floki up to lead the attack, knowing he would fail? That's one valid interpretation," series creator Michael Hirst told Zap2It. "Floki is going to be a big, big issue. In the coming season, that storyline takes very interesting twists and turns."

The series is not averse to killing of main characters in the middle of a season, and it remains to be seen if Floki will survive the extended 20-episode season. Many fans, however, may take solace in the fact that Skarsgård was still on set as the series continued to film the second third of season 4 at the start of September.
