Diesel took a moment to clarify the situation and put the lie to reports that sugsested that the vied-for directors weren't signing on because of their past experience of working with Diesel.

The actor denied reports that directors had been approached to helm the Furious 7 sequel and promised fans that he would be revealing the names of the directors in the running in his next post. He also thanked Universal and the fans of the Fast and Furious series for their faith in him. Here's the post:

Need 'Good Reason To Move On Without Paul,' Michelle Rodriguez Says Of Furious 8

"The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world... Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way... literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you.

My producing partner Neal would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled. To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet... let alone seen a script.

Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision... they have been like family... I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga.

I will announce the directors on my next post..."

The stir was caused by a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter which suggested that the movie hadn't been able to score the directors it hoped for because of Diesel's high standards. It revealed the James Wan, the director of Furious 7, had opted out of the next instalment because filming the latest one was nothing short of gruelling for him and Diesel had something to do with that. Diesel reportedly had the director work overtime on late-night script sessions so that he could feel more comfortable and prepared for his character.

The report also added that Justin Lin was another director the studio was looking to hire. Lin has already directed a bunch of Fast and Furious movies preceding Furious 7. But Lin has also turned down -- what was reportedly a very lucrative deal -- to work on another coveted project, the nest Star Trek movie.

Fast and Furious 8 will release on April 17, 2017.
