Despite Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) leaving their jobs in the season 10 finale of Fox's Bones, they may soon find that they can't be rid of their destinies.

How Will Arastoo React To Brennan Coming Back On 'Bones'?

For 10 years, Brennan and Booth have shown that they are the best at what they do. But it's hard to deny that a decade's worth of solving murders can weigh you down. That's part of why the dynamic duo called it quits at the Jeffersonian and the FBI in season 10. But their jobs will come calling again in season 11.

New Bones co-showrunner Michael Peterson spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently and teased how Brennan and Booth's jobs will continue to beckon them back.

"The theme that we're exploring is you can't escape fate," Peterson said. "They're meant to be doing what they're doing, and we're going to embrace that for all of our characters and really get back to the essence of who they are."

Deschanel told the publication, "As much as the death and violence and murder can get to somebody, it really seems like this is kind of their purpose in life."

Meanwhile, Peterson and fellow show runner Jonathan Collier have no intention of wrapping things up in season 11, noting that there is even more storytelling to be told.

"John and I are not going to try and wrap up season 11 and be done," Peterson said, commending the show's strong characters. "That's not our goal. Our goal is to play forever."

Bones season 11 premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
