They were finally saying their vows and getting ready to become husband and wife, but tragedy is once again striking at Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny's (Maurice Benard) happily ever after ending on General Hospital.

The two were exchanging their vows at Sonny's hospital bedside after their initial wedding plans were called off when Sonny was shot-but as Sonny was about to slip a ring on Carly's finger he suffered a setback and began to seize-dropping the ring on the floor and once again putting the pair's marriage vows on hold.

Now, Carly could receive terrifying news about Sonny's condition that could change everything.

"Sonny!" she cries in a preview clip for the Tuesday, September 29 episode as Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) try to save him.

Now, as the newest health crisis facing Sonny begins to unfold, it will mean even more trouble for the two when Ava (Maura West) arrives to take Avery back again-because their marriage is once again on hold, meaning Carly is not legally Avery's stepmother and can't hold onto her as a custodian while Sonny is in the hospital anymore.

Meanwhile, Michael (Chad Duell) is about to cause some shock when he reveals to Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Anna (Finola Hughes) and Paul (Richard Burgi) when he arrives at the police station following the meeting with the five families to reveal what Ava told him about Sonny's shooting.

"It's possible that Carlos is the one who shot our father," he says in the clip.

Of course, both Anna and Paul will know that what Michael was told is a lie, but for different reasons. Paul knows it's a lie because he is the one who actually shot Sonny-and Anna knows there's no way Carlos (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) could have been the shooter because she killed him months ago.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
