Chris Brown and Rihanna appeared to have spent New Year's Day in bed together, based on photos they posted to their Instagram accounts.

Brown, 23, posted a photo of himself in bed in the early hours on Jan. 1. Although just his leg was in full view in the photo, the blanket appeared risen next to him, as if some was lying in bed beside him but under it. The image suggested he was in bed with someone.

"Mornings," he reportedly captioned the photo he posted on Instagram, then later deleted.

Shortly after, Rihanna, 24, tweeted an Instagram photo of herself peeking out from under what appears to be the same blanket in Brown's photo posted earlier. The cover had the same polka dot print pattern as Brown's.

"Good morning! Still haven't slept lol #hello2013," the "Diamonds" singer tweeted on Tuesday, with a photo of herself.

The couple may have intentionally or unintentionally wanted to let their fans (and possibly Brown's ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran) know that they were still spending the holiday season together.

Rihanna and Brown shocked fans on Christmas Day when they sat together front row at an NBA Lakers game. The couple openly displayed affection for each other on their date on Dec. 25, where they watched the Los Angeles team play against the New York Knicks.

On Dec. 18, Rihanna tweeted "Being single sucks. The only thing I get to do anymore is whatever the f*** I want to do," which caused speculation that the couple had ended their relationship. However, the tweet may have been a response to Brown being seen partying with female models and also having lunch with his ex-girlfriend Tran in Dubai during one of his tour stops.

Tran, with whom Brown has been seen spending time with even after he announced their split in October, appeared upset through cryptic messages she wrote on Twitter.

"A busy, vibrant, goal-oriented woman is much more attractive than one who waits around for a man to validate her existence." Tran tweeted on Dec. 26.

She also tweeted, "wishing death upon someone is some weak s**t." on Dec. 27, and, "Your lies are going to catch up to you" on Dec. 29. Those tweets have since been deleted.

Brown, meanwhile, is still on probation for assaulting Rihanna in 2009.
