Kathy Griffin embarrassed Anderson Cooper on air after referring to his private parts and trying to kiss them during live coverage of Times Square's New Year's Eve Ball Drop show on Monday.

Cooper invited Griffin to co-host CNN's coverage of Times Square "New Year's Rockin Eve" predicting Griffin was going to make embarassing jokes.

"I want to apologize in advance to anyone @kathygriffin pokes fun of/makes out with/strips down in front of/punches. #CNNNYE 10pm to 12:30am," Cooper Tweeted Monday.

Few minutes into the broadcast Cooper brought up a Twitter follower's comment that there could be a drinking game whenever he giggled at Griffin's jokes.

"I'm going to tickle your sack," Griffin said. "You can say sack (on air). That's not bad."

"I don't know what you're talking about. I have no sack of gifts here. A sack of Christmas presents. I did not bring a sack of Christmas presents," Cooper replied.

"You're calling your privates your Christmas presents," Griffin said laughing.

But that was not the end of her stunt. After midnight, Cooper introduced a report by correspondent Gary Tuchman from Eastport, Maine, where the tradition for New Year is to kiss an 8-foot sardine after it has dropped from the top of a building.

When the camera cut back to Griffin and Cooper, she crouched to kiss Cooper's parts.

"Did you drop something?" Cooper asked.

"No, I was kissing your sardine," she answered."I can do it again," Griffin said kneeling. "I can do this all night long."

"No, sweetie," said an uncomfortable Cooper, lifting her back to her feet."You know you want to," she said.

"Believe me, I really don't," Cooper said half laughing, half uncomfortable as he helped her be upright.

This is not the first time Griffin tries out comical stunts. In 2009 Griffin dropped the "f" word on air and last year she attempted to strip to her underwear.
