Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) will be back at the Jeffersonian/FBI soon enough on Fox's Bones.

Will Brennan & Booth Experience Relationship 'Shift' on 'Bones' This Season?

After a six-month break from their careers, fans can expect Brennan and Booth to come back to the Jeffersonian and the FBI relatively soon. Boreanaz spoke with TVLine recently about what takes them back to their careers.

"It happens pretty quickly. It's not like an ongoing arc. [Booth will] reevaluate where he stands now in the FBI and how Aubrey [John Boyd] has moved up and how annoying that is," Boreanaz said. "He doesn't have his office. There's some funny stuff coming up."

But Booth won't automatically be back at his own post.

"I've got to go through all the retesting and shooting and evaluations to get reinstated," Boreanaz said, of Booth's return to the FBI.

Booth was last seen bleeding from the stomach in last night's season premiere. So where do we go from here in episode 2?

"The second half is much more intense in terms of trying to find out why he's in that predicament," Boreanaz said. "There is a great end to that episode that reflects the connection between him and Bones."

Asked about details of how Booth gets into such a precarious situation, Boreanaz said, "So many things. He's got a life. A lot of secrets."

Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
