Two websites are in hot water for illegally posting video footage of a sex tape featuring NFL player Chad Johnson.

In a move similar to wrestling professional Hulk Hogan who famously sued a company for posting a sex tape with him in it on their website, Johnson, 34, is suing two websites, WorldStarHipHop and Media Takeout for posting sex footage featuring him without his consent.

Johnson claims that the video was stolen because it was originally on his cellphone. In the video, which he claims was shot 3 or 4 years ago, he is having an intimate romp with a heavily tattooed woman.

According to TMZ, Johnson's suit is seeking unspecified damages and a court order blocking the websites from featuring the video on their website again.

The video was removed from both websites on Dec. 27 after Johnson's attorneys sent cease-and-desist letters to the media companies that own the websites.

TMZ reported that Johnson had contacted the FBI first because he believed the tape was hacked from his phone.

Johnson was officially cut from the Miami Dolphins NFL team several hours after he was released from jail on a domestic violence charge in the summer. The wide receiver was arrested Aug. 11 for headbutting his wife, reality star Evelyn Lozada, after she confronted him about a receipt she found for a box of condoms. The couple had wed only six weeks prior, on July 4, and were divorced by mid-September.

The high profile split took an interesting turn last month when they faced each other in court for the first time since the assault-- Lozada agreed to have the restraining order dropped at their court hearing in mid-December. After several cryptic tweets had gone viral suggesting that the former couple may have reconciled, a photo was published last week of the couple holding hands while attending an event together. The news was a shock to both of their fans.

Lozada posted a statement on her website to address the rumors of a reconciliation.

"I attended a dinner with Chad's daughter, not only because I love baby girl like my own, but to support Chad and his fan appreciation dinner. While at the dinner, several photos popped up on the Internet of Chad and I holding hands, while in the process of blessing the food. The blogs made last night seem as though, we walked hand and hand into the restaurant announcing a reunion, which wasn't the case.

"I care for Chad, we are friends and we love one another, however, we are still separated, not living under the same roof and working on ourselves because we have a long way to go. This is a normal and realistic process for anyone and I don't know what the future holds for me, but I know God holds it and I'm taking things one day at a time. I appreciate the love from so many of you and right now I'm still working on becoming a better person. Chad and I are attending therapy separately, meeting with a Life Coach and trying to figure out how to work on our individual selves and navigate through this entire ordeal.

"I wanted you to hear this from me and only me because I would rather you know the truth, than assume. :)"
