The second season of The Affair will have more involvement with Helen realizing how she could've been a better wife to Noah.

'The Affair' Will 'Launch Into The Consequences' Of Noah & Alison's Indiscretion

On Thursday, Glamour shared an interview with Maura Tierney (Helen) who mentioned that her character will realize that despite her husband's infidelity, she'll be seen in a way where her flaws will come into sight. As it turns out, she wasn't there for Noah and could've done a better job sticking up for him when no one else approved of him.

"She wasn't always supporting him as an artist," Tierney said about Helen and Noah. "She was emasculating him a bit with her wealth. She would never say to her parents, 'F---ing leave him alone.' This season we're really exploring her staunch refusal to stick up to her parents."

The actress then dished on how even though Helen wasn't the world's greatest wife, there is still a lot of sympathy on her part with the affair happening.

"In terms of [deliberately hurting Noah], Helen didn't really do anything wrong," Tierney said. "And she's so honest to him about being hurt. I think that allows people to connect with her, the fact that she says, 'You broke my heart.' She's really not full of s--t. And that makes her very appealing."

The Affair Season 2 premieres on Sunday, October 4 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
