Several days after Kanye West has announced that his girlfriend of eight months, reality star Kim Kardashain is pregnant, an executive in the sports industry has revealed that every time a celebrity hooks up with a member of the famous Kardashain clan, their popularity declines.

Huffington Post dubs this effect the "Kardashian curse."

Stephen Master, Senior Vice President of Sports for Nielson, said each of the three athletes who've dated a Kardashian has experienced a drastic decline in their celebrity. He revealed that each sports star that dated a Kardashian has experienced a "dramatic plunge in the public's perception of them.".

"Between Lamar Odom, Reggie Bush and Kris Humphries, those guys have all had their N-Score hurt, and it isn't because of their awareness," Master told Huffington Post. "Their awareness has actually shot up, in every case, but their negative appeal has also shot up."
 
"You need to do well, and you also need to date someone who people like," he added. "The Kardashians are controversial. They have really negatively impacted the marketability of [Odom, Bush and Humphries]."

Huffington Post featured a chart that demonstrates that Reggie Bush's unpopularity score increased while dating Kim and according to the report, it still hasn't recovered.

Humphries, who Kim was married to for 72 days and has to yet to finalize a divorce with, was named Forbes' "NBA's Most Dislked Player" shortly after he married her. Less than a year later, his popularity declined dramatically to almost half.

The article also referenced NBA player Lamar Odom who is married to Khloe Kardashian. After a successful year with the Los Angeles Lakers, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He was again traded back to Los Angeles and now plays for the Clippers.
