There might be a big twist waiting for fans in season 7 of The Good Wife.

Julianna Margulies Dishes About Alicia's New 'Frenemy' In Season 7

It was recently revealed that Cary (Matt Czuchry) is going to be unhappy in the next chapter of the CBS legal drama and will be reminisce about the excitement of starting a firm with Alicia (Julianna Margulies). Could this lead to him taking some drastic steps and probably quitting Lochart Agos Lee for fresh challenges with Alicia?

In a recent interview with TVGuide, co-creator Robert King dished about Cary's character arc in the next chapter.

Cary Will Be 'Drawn' To Younger Associates In Season 7

"He's one of those Caucasian graduates from Harvard who seems to be blessed and everything goes his way," King said. "But what's funny is everything wasn't going his way. He was fired twice from Lockhart Gardner. He was fired from the State's Attorney's Office. He brought Alicia over and then he was arrested last season. This season, we wanted to see what happens when Cary gets all his wishes. Every single wish he's had in life, which is to run one of the top firms in Chicago, have his name on the letterhead, have people obey him, have now come true."

Then he went onto suggest that Cary will miss Alicia, looking wistfully to the past.

"He looks at the associates across the hall and everyone seems to be having more fun," Robert added. "He kind of looks back to when he was struggling nostalgically, kind of like when people get what they want and they look back affectionately. He needs a new challenge. But we learn he's really nostalgic for when he and Alicia were working together. There's something about the struggle they had, the yin and yang of it, that made Cary a better person in a sense. Does he need Alicia again? He needs to find what his next goal is, which is frankly very exciting."

Season 7 will premiere on Oct. 4 on CBS.

The season 6 finale, entitled 'Wanna Partner?' aired on CBS on May 10.
