A new Variety report revealed that the casting process for the Power Rangers reboot has begun.

Sources informed the publication that they were looking for up-and-coming talent for the new movie, testing for which had begun. The names of some of the actors who are reportedly testing for main parts include were also revealed.

Daniel Zovatto, last seen in the indie horror film It Follows, Ross Butler of Chasing Life and Brian "Sene" Marc are auditioning for the part of Zack aka the Black Ranger. Actors KJ Apa (Shortland Street), Austing Butled (The Shannara Chronicles) and Mitchell Hope (The Descendants) are auditioning for Jason aka the Red Ranger.

Naomi Scott who stars in Ridley Scott's latest The Martian and Stephanie Scott, who was most recently seen in Insidious 3 are reportedly auditioning for the part of Kimberley aka the Pink Ranger.

The movie which has been scripted by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, is based on origins of The Mighty Morphins Power Rangers when the Rangers were still in high school. Dean Israelite will be directing and the film will be produced by Haim Saban, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur.

Little else is known about the film so far as it is still in its very early stages.

The original movie, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie was released in 1995 and starred Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park, Billy Cranston, Aisha Campbell, Kimberly Hart, and Tommy Oliver. The movie was directed by Bryan Spicer and written by John Kamps and Arne Olson.
