It looks like Justin Theroux wants his new wife Jennifer Aniston to deal with her past, no matter how painful it may be. There's a new report that says the Hollywood actor is encouraging Aniston to reconcile with her estranged mother, Nancy Dow, even though they haven't spoken to each other in years.

According to Closer Weekly on Friday, Theroux is hoping that his wife will be able to make peace with her mother before it's too late.

A source close to the couple said, "Nancy and Justin actually get on better than Nancy and Jen do and that's been key to these early steps at a proper reconciliation."

Unfortunately though, Aniston still feels upset with her mother for publishing a tell-all book about her famous daughter when she first rose to fame thanks to the hit sitcom Friends over two decades ago. Since then, the actress has had a hard time not only trusting her mother, but being in the same room with her as well.

The insider added, "The problem with these two is no matter how hard they try, Nancy always goes back into 'mom' mode and starts ordering Jen around and criticizing her. When Justin's there Nancy doesn't do it. It's the only reason why Jen's been able to set aside their differences and she'll only spend time with her if Justin's there."

And while Theroux is doing everything he can to help his wife make peace with her mother, it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. "[Jen] can't handle one-on-one [time] with her mom now. Not now, not ever," the insider added.
