The Story Behind a Hashtag

You may notice the hashtag #HisNameIsCayden making the rounds today. Here's the deal with that: In mid-September, a guy (who's white) posted a selfie on Facebook with an African-American child taken at his office. He and his friends then made a slew of racist jokes and remarks in the picture's comments. The (very young) child is the son of the man's coworker and she responded with a heartfelt Facebook post over the weekend, writing "This little guy has every piece of my heart, he is my world and #‎HisNameIsCayden." The man's employer, Polaris Marketing Group, fired him on Friday and the company's CEO published a statement on the company's official Facebook page that read in part, "It breaks my heart that Sydney [the boy's mother] and her adorable son Cayden were subjected to such hateful, ignorant and despicable behavior. Cayden visits my office almost every afternoon after daycare, he's sat at my dinner table and I consider him a part of the PMG family."

A New Version of Twilight...With A Twist

Life and Death, Twilight Reimagined is the same story as the first book, but with the genders of the two main characters flipped. Meyer wrote the book to celebrate the original's 10-year anniversary and also in response to those who criticized her main character of Bella for not being a fully in-depth female character.
