"Fifty Shades of Grey" fans continue to buzz and drool over who will ultimately land the popular role of S&M billionaire Christian Grey in its future movie version.  While many notable actors have come up in the slew of fan polls, one of the names that seems to come up daily is "Vampire Diaries" Ian Somerhalder.

Many "Fifty Shades" loyalists feel that the 34-year-old has the perfect look to pull off the Grey role with his deep blue eyes and brunette mane.  To top it off, Somerhalder continues to effectively play a similar role as the "bad boy" in his CW series.

A name that's been coming up frequently to play the Anastasia Steele role opposite the Somerhalder is Lucy Hale of "Pretty Little Liars," which has seemed to ignite some personal drama.

Celeb Dirty Laundry recently reported that Somerhalder's "Vampire Diaries" co-star and real life squeeze Nina Dobrev is apparently worried that if he ends up receiving the sexual role he may seduce Hale due to having a track record of wooing women from afront the camera.

While speaking to Ryan Seacrest a couple months back on an "On Air" radio broadcast, author E.L. James may have inadvertently tipped off her preference when the host brought up Somerhalder's name, according to WetPaint.

"I'm a big Vampire Diaries fan," she said.

In September, Somerhalder, actually came clean to E! on having read the racy erotica.  He also spoke about how he sees the casting process going.  Although he didn't deny any interest in the Grey role, he seemed as though he was avoiding any association with it.

"I think that's going to be a very interesting story to tell...It seems like whoever plays that role, it will be very interesting rehearsal time... the audition process is gonna be interesting," he stated.

Somerhalder aside, internet chatter has also brought some other well-respected actors into the prospect pool as potential Grey suitors, which include "White Collar's" Matt Bomer, "True Blood's" Alexander Skarsgard, and "Man of Steel's" Henry Cavill, amongst others.
