It's October, which means Hollywood is putting its scariest titles into theaters as Halloween approaches. From new installments of long-standing movie franchises like Paranormal Activity to original potential classics like Crimson Peak and even more throwback family-friendly fare like Goosebumps, this month has something for everybody.

If you're unsure about those titles and the plenty of other frighful choices at the mutliplex, don't worry. Here's a handy rundown of all the new horror flicks hitting theaters this month.

The Final Girls - Oct. 9

Kicking things off is The Final Girls, a horror comedy some people are calling the next Cabin in the Woods. Starring a slew of young stars, including Taissa Farmiga, Adam DeVine, Alia Shawkat and Alexander Ludwig, the film's title references the horror trope of the last woman left alive who then confronts the big killer. Farmiga stars as Max, who joins her friends in attending a screening of Camp Bloodbath, an '80s movie starring Max's late mother (Malin Åkerman). Max and her friends are then sucked into the movie and must find a way out. The Final Girls is sure to be the funniest horror film out in October.

Knock Knock - Oct. 9

Keanu Reeves stars as a family man whose wife and kids leave for the night, only to get a knock on the door from two seductive young women in Knock Knock. The film is directed by noted grisly director Eli Roth, who also has the epicly violent Green Inferno out in theaters now. After Reeves' character allows them into his house, it soon becomes clear that the sexy seductresses have malicious intent and are there to torment him. Knock Knock is tailor-made for fans of the horror-thriller genre.

Crimson Peak - Oct. 16

"Beware of Crimson Peak." Such is the motto for this gothic thriller set in the 19th century from director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth). Mia Wasikowska stars as Edith, an author who marries Sir Thomas Sharpe, a wealthy man (Tom Hiddleston) who owns a mansion with his sister, Lady Lucille Sharpe (Jessica Chastain). But Edith soon discovers that Thomas and Lucille's mansion is filled with ghosts and dark secrets. Fans of the gothic aesthetic (see: Tim Burton) will greatly enjoy this film.

Goosebumps - Oct. 16

Goosebumps stars Jack Black as R.L. Stine, the famous writer of the Goosebumps series of books. Stine is very troubled because the monsters he writes in his books are actually real, and the only way he keeps them at bay is by locking them into his books. A teenager moves with his family next door to Stine, and accidentally unleashes the monsters into the world. The PG-rated movie should be the rare horror film enjoyed as a family, plus it's bound to trigger your millenial nostalgia!

The Last Witch Hunter - Oct. 23

Elijah Wood, Vin Diesel, Michael Caine and Rose Leslie (Ygritte from Game of Thrones) star in this action/fantasy/horror hybrid. Diesel plays Kaulder, a witch hunter who killed the Queen Witch centuries ago. But before doing so, the she cursed him with immortality. Kaulder spends several centuries hunting down rogue witches only to find out that the Queen Witch has been resurrected and is seeking revenge on him. The Last Witch Hunter should be the most action-packed horror film this month.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension - Oct. 23

The sixth and final installment in the Paranormal Activity series, The Ghost Dimension centers on a family with a special camera that allows them to see spirits. The film claims that we will finally be able to see "the activity," which has been hidden for the first five films. Diehard Paranormal Activity fans should come out to theaters for one last PA moviegoing experience. After all, the franchise really kick-started a new wave of "found footage" films that became popular over the last few years.
