The Vampire Diaries makes its grand return to TV screens tonight, Oct. 8, for a brand new season!

Why Are The Salvatore Brothers 'Forced To Be A Team' During New 'Vampire Diaries' Season?

Back in September The CW Television Network released the teaser trailer for the season, which highlighted the tension between Lily (Annie Wersching), her heretic family and the rest of the residents from Mystic Falls fans have loved for six seasons now.

In that teaser trailer, Stefan (Paul Wesley) will not be taking a backseat when it comes to his mother and her "family" though. He wants to defend Mystic Falls, his friends and even his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

Stefan & Caroline Totally Have 'A Thing' In 'Vampire Diaries' Season 7 Premiere

So in the teaser trailer Stefan appears asking someone to teach him "how to make a bomb" and we finally know who will be instructing the younger Salvatore brother in this effort.

The CW Television Network's YouTube channel uploaded a video inside the premiere episode with executive producers Caroline Dries and Julie Plec, which can be viewed below.

In the video, Plec dished how the end of the sixth season with Mystic Falls looking to be in ruins will be explained throughout this new season.

"When we left off at the end of last season there was Damon like Batman on the clock tower looking out over the town that was completely annihilated in a lot of ways and so now we get to catch the audience up on how that happened," she explained.

Also in the video snippets from the premiere episode are shown. One in which shows Alaric (Matt Davis) responding to Stefan's bomb-building request.

"I need you to teach me how to make a bomb," Stefan asks Alaric over the phone, which prompts Alaric to say, "Okay, great, well, the party's over."

Alaric and Damon have been turning to alcohol to soak their wounds of losing their loves.

The premiere episode will also focus on Caroline (Candice King) urging Enzo (Michael Malarkey) to "pick a side" between her and her friends and Lily and her heretics.

The Vampire Diaries airs on The CW on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
