Matt Barnes Twitter 2015: NBA Star Breaks Silence On Derek Fisher Fight, 'We Were Good Friends At One Point' [VIDEO]
Matt Barnes has spoken out after he assaulted NBA great Derek Fisher for getting too close with his estranged wife, Gloria Govan.

Barnes defended his choice to beat up Fisher recently after his and Govan’s twin boys called him to tell him Fisher was in their home.
Barnes said that Fisher, who was once his teammate on the Los Angeles Lakers and is now head coach for the New York Knicks, was actually pretty close with him. He didn’t say much in his recent statement, but he did note that he and Fisher “were friends,” reporter Rob Fischer revealed via Twitter.

He added, “Matt Barnes says he hasn’t spoken with league yet in regard to alleged incident on Saturday”.

He added that Barnes said, “It’s a personal matter. My focus is on basketball. Being here early, I don’t wanna start it off by having anything negative.”

Still, he went on to say that it’s not over. “We’ll let the process take place and just focus on playing right now. All the real details will come out at some point.”

He ended with giving a few details of his own and saying that one of the twins, six-year-old Carter, Facetimed him an had him “concerned” about what was going on at the home.
“That was my main reason for going over there. I can’t believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to Tupac to go beat somebody up…”
Report swirled that Barnes beat Fisher after he texted a friend to tell them the details revealed by the New York Post. He also confessed that he “spit” in Govan’s face after beating Fisher all around the home. He drove 95 miles to find Fisher and Govan at a bon fire with ten others before sparking the fight.
Even though Barnes is staying pretty quiet about it, one person who is not is Govan’s former Basketball Wives LA co-star Draya Michele.
She took to Twitter to share her thoughts and actually defended Barnes’ actions in a series of messages that has since been deleted.
But she used the example and said she would never get too close with Malaysia Pargo’s ex-husband, because that would make Pargo wonder if Draya was always eyeing him, even when they were together.

Fisher has decided not to press charges against Barnes and said they are handling it privately.
