While Moniece Slaughter was getting a huge side eye from fans last season of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Hollywood after Lil Fizz accused her of abandoning their son, we are learning more about her relationship with her own mother that explains a lot. Now, Slaughter has revealed why she and her mother have such a strange connection.

Speaking with the network in a video released Thursday, Slaughter said they have a “very tumultuous relationship” before revealing it was actually her step-father who raised her as he was the only real form of “discipline” and “guidance” she had growing up.

She said that she faced many “untruths” growing up which caused her to have a bit of a delay when it came to finding herself; something she said she still struggles with and blames her mother for to this day.

Still, all hope is not lost as Slaughter said “we are trying to work through that. I’m trying to take responsibility for my part. I’m also looking for that in return from her.”

As for Rich Dollaz meeting her mother, Marla, Slaughter said that was the step was trying to take to “repair” their relationship.

“I felt like this was gonna be my first step…”

Slaughter introduced the world to her mother in the latest episode of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, causing many fans to understand why Slaughter is the way she is.
