The Vampire Diaries returned Thursday night and viewers got to see just how ruthless the heretics are!

Why Are The Salvatore Brothers 'Forced To Be A Team' During New 'Vampire Diaries' Season?

Enzo (Michael Malarkey) even picked the side he is on in this brewing war and unfortunately he sided with Lily (Annie Wersching) and her heretics, which is going to be very dangerous for Caroline (Candice King) and the rest of the residents from Mystic Falls that are attempting to end them once and for all.

It seems like the heretics will torture Caroline in retaliation since Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) ended Malcolm (Justice Leak). This act from Damon and Bonnie broke the truce Stefan (Paul Wesley) initiated with Lily and the heretics so it seems like the death toll will rise.

Will Damon & Stefan Torture Lily In New 'Vampire Diaries' Season?

In the teaser trailer that's below for next Thursday's episode called "Never Let Me Go," the heretics will have Caroline tied up, hanging from the ceiling.

"Lily took Caroline," Stefan is seen telling Damon, explaining his recklessness is what led to this situation.

Damon will be on the phone with someone and will explain, "Killing Malcolm was classic Damon," so it seems like the Damon from the earlier seasons is definitely back.

Lily and her remaining heretic family will even meet with Damon where Lily will dish out, "Malcolm was a vital part of this family."

In another snippet, Enzo is seen being nice to Caroline again until she head-butts him. She clearly doesn't trust him and rightfully so since he delivered her to Lily.

To make matters worse for Caroline, heretic Mary Louise (Teressa Liane) looks like she's going to stab out her eyes with an eyeliner pencil.

"What do you think of this color?" Mary Louise asks a dangling Caroline, which sparks Caroline's usual bubbly behavior to say, "It'll totally make your eyes pop."

"Do you think it'll make your eyes pop?" Mary Louise asks before winding up to jam it into Caroline's eye.

The Vampire Diaries airs on The CW on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
